Plasma cutting is the-most used procedure in the automotive service these days. But actually, the majority of people don't understand what plasma machinery represents and what advantages of their use are. In brief, plasma cutting is a procedure of cutting various metals of different thicknesses with the help of a plasma torch. The action of plasma cutting machinery is founded on the rare gas that is blown at high speed from a nozzle. An electrical arc formed through this gas is well-known for its capability to turn the gas to plasma. Using plasma for metal cutting is a good choice since this substance is hot to melt the metal, and at the same time it blows the melted metal away from the cut. Plasma cutting machinery is represented on the marketplace in three principal types. The first type is known as a compact plasma cutter and constitutes a small machine with high power. Such cutter runs off at a 120V AC outlet. Its size makes it perfect for "on the spot" repairs, while its power makes it capable to cut any metal from aluminum to stainless steel. The following two versions, known as Low Amp and High Amp machines, represent stationary equipment. Their function is intense cutting metal for industrial purposes such as fabrication or serial maintenance. Amidst the most outstanding property of plasma cutter is that in the cutting process the metal outside the cutting area stays comparatively cool, so the risk of paint damage or distortion is minimal in contrast to the other flame cutters. What is more, plasma cutting machines are able to cut the metal 5 times faster than ordinary cutting machines. In such a way plasma cutters combine accuracy and speed, and such a combination makes them beyond comparison. Note that plasma cutting machines deal with high voltages, so there is a risk of electric shock when working with this tool. The precautions during the cutting procedure include wearing insulated gloves and boots and keeping your clothing and body dry. A good ventilation is also important as plasma cutting usually results in toxic fumes producing.
