Nowadays due to the unbearable summer heat, the air conditioner has turned into a necessity rather than a luxury thing. The AC was introduced by Stuart Cramer, but the term was coined by W. Carrier. The scientific innovation helps people in many ways. For example, after the installation of an air conditioning system to a Houston theatre, the number of theatre-goers rapidly went up. Air conditioners reduce the humidity level of air and sustain its quality. There are ACs which dry the air without cooling it. The air conditioner commonly consists of a condenser, an evaporator and a compressor. It also uses a chemical that converts liquid to gas and vice versa. There are two kinds of air conditioners: a split and a package system. In the split system, the condenser and the compressor are installed outside the room and the evaporator designed for circulating the air around the room is installed inside the room. In the package system, all components are set outside the room. There are small-sized, mid-sized and large-sized air conditioning systems. The most usually purchased air conditioner is the window air conditioner that is set on a window and used for cooling a particular room. If you would like to cool more than one room, then you should opt for a split or a mini-split air conditioner, depending on how many rooms you wish to cool. The most widely used ones are portable air conditioning systems that you can move around. For cooling the whole house opt for central air conditioners. The only disadvantage of the air conditioner is electricity bills that can put strain on one's budget. However, there are a few useful tips to help you decrease the amount of electricity consumed by your AC and, therefore, electricity bills: • Do not put the AC the sun's direct rays. This makes the air conditioner consume more power for cooling your room. • Do not deploy a big air conditioning in a small-sized room. • Keep doors and windows closed, when the AC is in on. Hence, proper installation and deployment of the AC will save electricity.
